The future of our capital markets are in good hands
Over 20 teams from four top Universities have taken part in the 2016 Shareclarity Company Valuation competition that closes today.
The competition aimed to give students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in valuing an NZX- or ASX-listed company, bringing together their research, strategy, accounting and finance skills.
Hosted by the Victoria University Business & Investment Club, the competition was open to students and academics from Victoria University, Auckland University, Massey University and Canterbury University.
Managing Director Daniel Kieser says Shareclarity is all about trying to improve the understanding and participation in our financial markets.
“This was a perfect chance for students from different universities to challenge themselves, challenge each other and put their learnings into practice,” Kieser says.
“We haven’t seen the final submissions, but if the level of questioning and resourcefulness shown during the competition is anything to go by, we should see some high quality analysis. A lot of the companies being researched by the students are also not currently covered elsewhere, so adding them to Shareclarity will make them available to the benefit of general public”.
The top prize is $2,000 and will also give the winning student/team some media coverage and an opportunity build their profile within the financial community.
All submissions will be judged by an expert panel.
The winner will be announced on 9 September.
