Te reo champions urged to apply
Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori is urging whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori groups to get their applications for funding support, to start or advance their te reo Māori journey, in by this Sunday.
Mā te Reo is a $3.25 million contestable fund administered by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori to support whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori community organisations develop and implement initiatives which contribute to te reo Māori revitalisation.
Applications to the fund close this Sunday July 31 and there will be no extension of that date.
Since the fund opened on July 1, a total of 1038 individuals and groups have registered.
The range of activities that can be funded through Mā te Reo are:

· Māori language courses
· Māori language resources
· Māori language plans
· Locally based Māori language events
Those interested in applying to the Mā te Reo fund must register online at www.tetaurawhiri.govt.nz
Last financial year (2015/16) Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori approved Mā te Reo contestable funding for 91 individuals and groups throughout the country, totalling $2.665 million.
