UniQ - Pride Week
We hope the university break has treated you well and that you are as excited as we are for the upcoming trimester!
Why the excitement? Well, from the 18th to the 24th of July we will be running our Pride Week!
The events are planned as follows:
Monday: Board games night! 6 - 10pm, hosted at The Preservatorium, 39 Webb St.
Tuesday: Screening of intersex documentary 'Intersexion', and a post-film discussion with Mani Mitchell, director and leading NZ intersex activist. 2-4pm, SU217 (Kelburn). Afternoon tea provided.
Wednesday: Queerest tea party! Come and have a cuppa and a snack (provided!) in the Hub mezzanine from 12-2pm (Kelburn) or in the conference room (level two Student Services Building) at 12:30pm (Massey).
Thursday: Quiz night - come and test your queer knowledge and win some great prizes! Teams of 4 or 5, 6pm, hosted by Bad Grannies, 195 Cuba St.
Friday: Two
events! First, we have a queer safe sex and consent workshop
with guest facilitators from Family Planning and Student
Health. All the things high school didn't teach you! SU218,
1-3pm.
Then in the evening, we have a screening of 'Thin
Edge of the Wedge', hosted by MP Jan Logie. This film is a
documentary about the passing of Homosexual Law Reform,
being screeed in a SECRET LOCATION (details still being
confirmed, but we'll let you know asap!)
Saturday: Ivy Party! A classic - Pride just wouldn't be Pride without it. This year we're going back to the 80's, when legs were warm, waists were high, hair was teased, and Homosexual Law Reform was IN. Bust out your best jazzercise or hair metal gear and we'll see you from 10:30pm. Prizes for best costume, and a dance-off!
We look forward to seeing
you,
UniQ
