Keeping safe online more important than ever
Today - Tuesday 9 February - marks Safer Internet Day. An international event with New Zealand taking part in a big way and coordinated by InternetNZs partner Netsafe. Safer Internet Day is designed to create awareness about the importance of Internet safety and encourages positive use of technology - with a strong focus on young people.
Chief Executive of InternetNZ, Jordan Carter, says Internet safety is more important than ever as more of our lives and economies move online.
"It is fantastic to see so many organisations and individuals across the world getting involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology.
"New Zealanders need to feel safe online and have access to the right tools in order to have trust in the Internet. Without trust, we won't get close to realising the full potential that technology can deliver," says Carter.
There are lots of ways you can get involved to help promote Internet safety. Check out Netsafe's webpage here: Netsafe's Safer Internet Day 2016
