Kelly Tarlton’s calling all young filmmakers
Kelly Tarlton’s SEA LIFE Aquarium has put the call out to budding young filmmakers across Auckland to produce their
latest television advertisment.
With the brand new Jurassic Seas exhibit launching this summer, the team at Kelly Tarlton’s have decided to seek the aid
of Auckland’s brightest young talents to get the word out.
Kelly Tarlton’s is inviting primary school students across Auckland to plan, shoot and edit a 30-second television
commercial that could air live on television.
In addition to having their ad screened on television, the winning students’ class will also win an overnight sleepover
at Kelly Tarlton’s and a brand new GoPro Hero 3.
Kelly Tarlton’s General Manager, Phil McGowan, is really excited about engaging with schools across Auckland and
showcasing the creative talent residing in classroooms across the City.
“Educating kids, and providing incredible opportunities to enrich their learning experience is a huge part of what we do
at Kelly Tarlton’s. So when we launch a new exhibit, like our fantastic upcoming Jurassic Seas exhibit, we want them to
not only be engaged in the learning opportunity but also hopefully foster a sense of ownership where they can say ‘I was
part of this’.”
Giving students a chance to research and produce an advertisement for this upcoming exhibit is a really fun, hands-on
way for children to learn about the ancient creatures that once inhabited our oceans, and the importance of preserving
the creatures that remain, McGowan believes.
More information about the competition can be found online here. Entries close December 2.
