Students’ essay could earn them $10 per word
Applications for the 2015 Hugh Williams Ravensdown Memorial Scholarship close on 4 December.
The scholarship provides $5,000 per year for students looking to undertake an agricultural or horticultural degree. All the hopefuls have to do is submit a 500-word essay on “Agriculture/Horticulture in NZ: why tertiary study will assist both me and the industry.”
Recipients can also go on to work for the co-operative on a short-term placement, if the opportunity arises/if a position is available.
Ravensdown’s Chairman, John Henderson believes that tertiary studies are crucial to the whole agri-sector and scholarships can help those who might be facing a struggle to foot the bill for a degree.
“It’s not just Ravensdown whose strategy depends on attracting tertiary-level talent into the sector.”
The Ravensdown Hugh Williams Scholarship is one of several scholarship the cooperative offers to students based on the agricultural sector, with six students currently receiving scholarships from Ravensdown.
