Mirrors are Magic

Mirrors are Magic

A new exhibition that uses mirrors to explore the science of reflections and reflected light will open on Saturday 12 September at Canterbury Museum.

Mirror Magic goes beyond the looking glass and into the mysterious back-to-front, upside-down world of reflections and light manipulation.

Mirrors have long been considered magical. Entertainers use them to create illusions, scientists use them to find out how the world works, and artists use them to explore the concept of reality.
This exhibition allows visitors to experiment and explore some of their amazing properties in fun and exciting ways.

At each of the multiple interactive exhibits, children and adults can explore some of the magical properties of mirrors and learn how they work. With many hands-on experiences to help understand scientific explanations for the phenomena being observed, Mirror Magic promises a fun and educational experience for the whole family.

Special Exhibitions Hall, Canterbury Museum Rolleston Avenue Christchurch until 8 November 2015. Free admission. Donations appreciated.

Developed and Toured by Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History.
