Education budget focuses on learners says NZSTA
Budget 2015 continues to demonstrate a focus on learners and consolidates the changes introduced in recent years, which is what the sector has been talking about for some time, says the New Zealand School Trustees Association.
The additional funding for vulnerable children and students with special educational needs is very welcome. NZSTA is also pleased to see that there has again been a price adjustment to the Operations Grant.
The budget is a sensible and steady one for schools that does not introduce any major new initiatives, and most boards of trustees will be grateful for that given the amount of transformation that is still bedding in in the sector, says NZSTA President Lorraine Kerr.
The focus on maintaining and building on the gains we’ve been making over the past few years may not make headlines, but it does make sense.
