Wellington Graduation on Tuesday 14 April Marks Student Success
On behalf of Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) we invite you to attend the annual Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) graduation being held tomorrow at the Michael Fowler Centre Wellington. 2,460 people are being graduated.
More than 3,200 qualifications were achieved by WelTec students in 2014. On Tuesday our students’ success is being celebrated at two separate ceremonies – the first starting at 12pm and the second starting at 4pm. Students who have achieved success with the Wellington Trades Academy will also be graduating along with their peers from a variety of programmes.
Ceremony One
Scott Houston, Founder and Former CEO of GreenButton and previously CTO of Weta Digital is the keynote speaker at the noon ceremony. Craig Bunyan General Manager- Technology NZ from the ANZ will award the inaugural Most Outstanding Female Technology Graduate.
Ceremony Two
Includes the awarding of the Allied Workforce Top Carpentry Student by Mark Sorenson and the Institution of Engineering and Technology award to the top Bachelor of Engineering Technology student.
For the first time a group of 18 students will be graduating with New Zealand’s first and only Bachelor of Youth Development – a degree designed to credentialise those working in the youth work field. Four of these students comprise the very successful Tamaiti Whangai team at WelTec and have been supported by Te Runanganui o Taranaki Whanui ki te Upoko o te Ika a Maui Inc to achieve their Bachelor of Youth Development qualification.
