LIANZA and Hell Pizza Reading Challenge 2015
LIANZA and Hell Pizza Reading Challenge 2015
26/02/2015
The LIANZA and Hell Pizza Reading Challenge is starting again this March to December. Last year there was a huge response from libraries from all over New Zealand who participated in the much loved challenge that combines reading with pizza. This year LIANZA’s focus is to get more school libraries participating, thereby increasing the scope for the challenge while also reiterating the importance of qualified school librarians to Kiwi kids’ education.
So far LIANZA has signed up 86 schools, which is over double the amount that participated last year.
Not even Hell branding is a deterrent, in fact, it’s the pizza the piques the students’ appetites as well as their interest.
Maggie Slight, the school librarian for Tauhara College describes this initiative as a “wonderful way to push READING!” She goes on to say that implementation of the challenge is easy: “I advertise in the school daily notices and ask anyone who issues or returns books if they’re interested in getting FREE pizza. Answer is always YES.”
Any primary and intermediate schools are welcome to join the challenge. Contact the LIANZA office for more details.
