CORE to lead new Learning Technologies Advisory
CORE Education is pleased to announce their selection to lead the Ministry of Education’s Learning Technologies Advisory (LTA)
initiative. The initiative is a three year long contract aimed at supporting New Zealand schools and kura to maximise
the potential of ultra-fast broadband and the managed network and digital technologies to achieve better educational
outcomes.
Available from term one 2015, LTA’s main intent is to support schools and kura to develop and sustain their e-learning
capabilities in a structured and organised way, from strategy design, to purchasing, to building the professional
capabilities of teachers.
CORE Education was selected to lead this strategic piece of work by the Ministry. Nick Billowes, Director and Founder of
CORE Education says, “CORE Education is known in the industry to push the boundaries of educational possibility. We have
very experienced staff to carry out this work for the Ministry. Our values and beliefs certainly align with this
initiative.”
“The LTA is intended to support the transformation of education practice across all New Zealand-based schools and kura,”
says Project Leader, Karen Melhuish Spencer. “The networked nature of the Advisory will mean we can provide a cohesive,
connected service across the country. We’ll draw on the strength of our relationships with schools and educational
organisations to ensure our guidance is tailored to suit the needs of schools and kura.”
Facilitators will work directly with schools and kura on behalf of the Ministry to provide advice and guidance. The LTA
service works at the point where technologies and teaching approaches intersect providing a cohesive vision for access,
quality guidance and resources. Services include provision of a responsive help desk across multiple channels and
professional learning activities targeted to identified needs.
