3 New Appointments to Waiariki Senior Team
Waiariki Institute of Technology is pleased to announce 3 new appointments to its Senior Team.
Director of Learning, Quality and Student Experience
Dr David Gough comes to Waiariki with extensive experience in academic management. Currently Director of Academic
Support and Development at Victoria University in Melbourne, David was previously Dean of the Faculty of Health,
Humanities and Science at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology for five years. Prior to relocating to New
Zealand in 2000 David was Professor and Chair in the Department of Linguistics at the University of the Western Cape in
Cape Town, South Africa. David gained a PhD in African Languages and Linguistics from Rhodes University. David is
passionate about student support and change management in education and has led many initiatives to enhance the student
experience. David said ‘I am delighted to join Waiariki and to work with its distinctly bicultural context’. David
commences his new role on 5th January 2015.
Human Resources Manager
Daniel Parkham joins Waiariki from heading the Human Resources Directorate at the Delta Group, a large multisite visual
communications Company in the UK. A graduate from the University of Warwick Daniel has a Postgraduate Diploma in Human
Resource Management and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Previous HR positions have
been with the Ford Motor Company and Metronet Rail in the UK. Daniel has extensive experience in employee relations,
payroll and recruitment and training. Married to a kiwi Daniel is looking forward to living and working in New Zealand
and to joining Waiariki. He says ‘I was attracted by the large and diverse nature of Waiariki Institute of Technology
and this opportunity to work with a wide range of professional staff to achieve our ambitions for the institute'. Daniel
will start work with Waiariki on 17th November 2014.
Head of Registry Services
Robyn Skelton has worked at the Bay of Plenty Regional Council for seven years as Land Management Manager. She held
responsibility for establishing systems and processes to create the land management team, having responsibility for
Tauranga Harbour and Kaituna catchments. She previously worked in the education sector as a programme leader and as a
developer of education systems including training. Robyn is looking forward to joining Waiariki, having had extensive
experience in establishing and working with operational delivery systems, and in administration and auditing systems.
Robyn gained a Bachelors degree from the University of Waikato, has a Diploma in Teaching and a Masters in Education
from Deakin University Australia. With her strong analytical and systems process background Robyn is looking forward to
returning to her home town of Rotorua, and to working at Waiariki. She said she was attracted to the post because of
Waiariki’s positive reputation, particularly in its commitment to developing student potential. Robyn takes up her post
on 27th November 2014.
