Graduation Night For IT Students
CPP Graduate Jodie Buckland with family and friends. Jodie graduated with a Diploma in Software Development (Level 5).
Graduation night is one to be celebrated and it was no exception last Friday when over 70 IT Graduates from Computer Power Plus were recognised for their achievements at a ceremony held at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor.
It was a fantastic celebration where graduates shared with staff, friends and family what they had gained from their chosen programme of study.
Students graduated in Certificate and Diplomas programmes in Business Computing and Client Support, Information Technology Support, Network Engineering, Software Development, Systems Technology, Advanced Software Development and Advanced Network Engineering.
While providing students with quality IT training at all levels is important, a key focus of the Institute is preparing graduates for employment and making sure they are work ready.
Mark Bennett, IT Director at the Salvation Army says, “50 students from Computer Power Plus have done work experience with the Army. The people we get from Computer Power Plus are critical to us. As well as excellent IT experience, the social skills they develop are invaluable in the work force”.
Industry are looking for soft skills. To work with people and have good communication skills are key things for students.
