World-class US Universities come to Auckland

Top American universities will converge in Auckland this weekend for the USA Universities College Fair hosted by the US
Embassy.
Budding NASA astronauts, scientists and fans of popular US television comedy The Big Bang Theory will have the chance to
talk to recruiters from Caltech, New York University, UCLA and 11 other academic institutions at the fair this Saturday
[September 20].
The free event, which is being held at AUT University’s Sir Paul Reeves building from 10:30 to 3:00pm, is open to school
pupils, university students, parents and teachers.
University recruiters, alumni and Embassy staff will be available to advise potential students on admission
requirements, applications, campus culture and accommodation options.
Academic and sport scholarships, financial assistance, and student visas will also be covered in several breakout
sessions throughout the day.
As well as institutions’ individual scholarships, visitors to the expo will be able to learn about how to apply for
Fulbright scholarships. More than 1700 New Zealanders have studied at American Universities on a Fulbright Scholarship
since the programme was established between the two countries in 1948.
US Consulate General Public Affairs Officer Emily Armitage said the Embassy was pleased to hold the popular university
college fair for a second year.
“The College Fair will provide a unique opportunity for New Zealand students to talk to recruiters from some of the
world’s top academic institutions,” she said.
