Foundation for Youth Development Boosted by SAP Partnership
The Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) is thrilled to announce their new partnership with SAP, a global leader in
enterprise software, who have chosen to support FYD’s Career Navigator Programme.
Career Navigator is a ready-for-work programme that's designed to help secondary school students in need of direction.
It includes three parts (work place mentoring, participation in experiential workshops and attendance at career options
events), and supports teens in their decision-making around future employment.
Career Navigator also provides an effective platform for employers to share real-world knowledge and offer mentoring and
active learning opportunities for youth, and this aspect of the programme is what excited SAP.
SAP New Zealand aims to address challenges around youth unemployment, and further bolster interest in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). By investing $50,000 per annum in Career Navigator, they can see a
fantastic way to pathway our young people into the technology sector.
Career Navigator Research
Career Navigator research shows that the programme:
• Creates an awareness of what will be expected from students, in order for them to be successful within the workplace.
• Helps students gain skills and confidence in their ability to make suitable career and subject choices.
• Offers an opportunity for employers to raise their profile and connect with future employees.
• Ultimately benefits young people and their communities.
FYD CEO Marion Short Says, “With support from organisations like SAP, we are exposing more young students more
frequently to the array of industries and professions New Zealand has to offer, thereby helping them make more informed
decisions about their further education and employment goals.
“We are currently seeking more visionary employers to help us reach our goal of 20,000 students in Career Navigator by
