Whitireia consistently a top achiever
A report released today by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) shows Whitireia is among New Zealand’s top performing polytechnics.
The Performance of Tertiary Education Organisations report for 2013 ranks Whitireia in the number one position for course completion. Course completion measures the number of students completing a course of study during the year under review. This top ranking was achieved ahead of 17 other Institutes of Technology or Polytechnics in New Zealand.
A total of four measures are reported on including: successful completion of courses, completion of qualifications, student progression to higher level study and students retained in study. Whitireia ranked in the top three nationally, for course completion, qualification completion and students retained in study.
Whitireia is proud of this achievement and proud of leading the sector said Don Campbell, Chief Executive. “Our number one position in the completion of courses and high rankings in qualification completion, and students retained in study are pleasing results for us. Whitireia students are motivated to succeed in their study and this shows in these results. Our relatively small class sizes, dedicated and skilled teaching staff and the non-academic support available to students have all contributed to our number one position in this course completion performance measure.”

Whitireia delivers leading tertiary education at certificate, diploma, degree, postgraduate and master’s levels of study. It has a population of over 8,500, with students choosing to study at campuses in Wellington, Porirua, Kāpiti and Auckland.
