Student challenge offers career lift with exclusive work experience in Asia
Tuesday 29 July 2014
Almost one million university students across Australia and New Zealand have the chance to launch their careers in a
once in a lifetime opportunity, through a new competition which opens today.
Mission Exceptional, an initiative of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, provides Australian and New Zealand students the chance to convert their developing business acumen into a winning
boardroom pitch in return for work experience in one of Asia’s business capitals.
Students are required to develop an innovative ‘shared value’ initiative for a company in the high-technology industry
that benefits both the bottom line and the social good.
Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Lee White said the competition gives students the chance to gain an edge in the ever-competitive graduate job market.
“This challenge tests the business acumen, analytical and presentation skills of students and importantly raises
awareness of social issues.”
Shortlisted finalists will present their business case in Sydney in front of a panel of leading company directors and
executives.
“The focus is on innovations that not only improve businesses but the communities in which they operate,” Mr White said.
Mr White will feature as a boardroom judge alongside American Express Australia and New Zealand CFO Neil Batenburg;
Advisory Board Member of EntreHub Olivia Tyler; Director of Australian Red Cross Jan West AM and Deloitte Managing
Partner, Regional Offices, Peter Forrester.
Finalists will receive presentation skills training, a brand new business suit and have the chance to network with top
employers.
“This is important to equip students with the skills to be ‘work ready’ and enhance their career prospects,” Mr White
added.
Entries are open from Tuesday 29 July till Monday 15 September 2014. More information on Mission Exceptional is available below or on the competition’s website.
