School Leadership Project Launch
What is the “magic” of great school leaders, and how do we replicate it? What does it look like when popular leadership theory meets actual school life? Maxim Institute’s latest education project explores these questions.
Today we launch two papers: a research note called Anchoring the Abstract – What great school leadership looks like and a policy paper entitled Joining Forces – Nine ways to improve leadership in New Zealand schools.
Author Dr Luke Fenwick says: “In Anchoring the Abstract, we look at theories of school leadership and see how those ideas translate at the grassroots, using our case study of a South Auckland primary school.Joining Forces draws from this research and makes nine recommendations about how government policy can help create powerful learning communities. We discuss and develop both National’s and Labour’s recent education proposals.”
