PRESS RELEASE
Education Changes based upon Teacup Meeting with discredited ex MP!
Government’s changes to Education were based upon the Act/National Agreement between the Prime Minister and the now
disgraced, John Banks.
Te Tai Tokerau Principals Association President Pat Newman, questions the educational benefits of the changes to
education pushed on schools by Keys and Banks, especially now that one of the main drivers for these changes, has been
found guilty in the Auckland Court for filing false electoral forms. The court, by finding him guilty, has in fact,
treated his repeated statements of amnesia, as unbelievable!
Mr Newman says, ”Parents and educators throughout New Zealand have long questioned the educational validity for
instance, Charter Schools. To find that one of the main proponent of these, is a man now found in court to be guilty of
such a crime, questions the whole rationale behind these decisions.
In Te Tai Tokerau, we are already seeing the unravelling of the Charter School concept, Banks’ baby, with one of the
two, already reported to be in major difficulty.”
Mr Newman believes that the children of New Zealand deserve a better education system, than one developed in the mind of
a man who conveniently forgets what he wants to forget! Some call it amnesia. Others call it something else!
He says, “It is an indictment on our political system that someone of Banks now questionable character should have so
much say over education policy and the spending of precious taxpayers' money. The government is on very dangerous ground
continuing to foist the half baked ideas of such a person on the children of New Zealand.”
He continued, “I call upon Mr Key to drop Charter Schools, as quickly as he now has to drop Banks, simply because both
Banks and Charter Schools, have no educational credibility and are based on false claims, that don’t require a dose of
Banks’ style amnesia to be proven wrong!”
