Novopay a clear winner in this year’s Roger Awards

Talent2, the company that bought us Novopay, is a deserving winner of the People’s Choice Award in the 2013 Roger Awards for the Worst Transnational Corporation Operating in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
NZEI Te Riu Roa National Secretary Paul Goulter says he’s not surprised that Talent2 won the award this year by a landslide.
“It’s an obvious choice. This is a company that has been causing immense problems for thousands of teachers and school support staff throughout the country for almost two years now.
The judges commented that Talent2’s Novopay had become a byword for an expensive IT failure, costing teachers and school support staff millions of dollars in missed or mucked up salaries as well as costing taxpayers many millions more in trying to sort the mess.
“What’s also galling is the amount of wasted time and energy that continues to be diverted into this debacle at the expense of children’s learning.”
Mr Goulter says the frustration in the education sector continues to be enormous.
“It seems the Minister, Steven Joyce and his government are unable to sort it out.”
