Mensa New Zealand Tertiary Scholarship Winners
Mensa New Zealand is delighted to announce the winners of the Mensa New Zealand Tertiary Scholarship for 2013.
Each winner is granted $500 toward the study of their chosen field.
The winners are:
Mr Christopher Bateman
Mr Angus Watson
Mr Bateman is a PHD Candidate researching an advanced medical imaging system that can provide faster, more high
precision diagnosis of disease and injury than a conventional CT scan. Mr Bateman’s work will be extremely helpful in
the diagnosis and treatment of tumours and other serious illnesses.
Mr Watson is an Engineering Honours Student at the University of Canterbury in the field of Mechatronics. His research
and education will have an impact on many fields, including transport, renewable energy, healthcare and infrastructure.
Both these candidates demonstrated a high calibre of skills, work ethic, innovation and enthusiasm for their particular
field of study. Both candidates demonstrated an extremely impressive desire for collaborative work and look to use their
studies to benefit not only Mensa but also society in general.
Mensa New Zealand is very proud to have members within our organisation who are making such impressive contributions to
society and wish both Mr Watson and Mr Bateman the best of luck with their future studies.
