Why do people buy?

Media Release 20th February 2014

Why do people buy?

By Anne Patrick, NorthTec Business Tutor

For any business student wanting to understand how best to pitch to their potential customer base, NorthTec is pleased to be offering a new course on buyer behaviour and communication strategies. It begins in Semester One 2014.

This course will empower business operators to understand what motivates customer behaviour. For instance is it the advertising on television or a Google advert that works best for you? Is it your great ad? Or does your product require endorsement by a celebrity?

As a savvy business person, you need to understand just what will work for you at the consumer interface.

The new NorthTec course teaches students to understand how advertisements and products create the best appeal. You will learn about target markets, niche markets, and mass markets.

You will discover how to decide the best way to market a product or service, and the importance of establishing great branding.

You will also learn how to best communicate with buyers and market share and the all-important profit.

The paper has been approved as a course for the New Zealand Diploma in Business and credits go towards the Bachelor of Applied Management Degree, also offered at NorthTec.

For more information about NorthTec’s Business programme and the new buyer behaviour course, contact us on 0800 162 100 or visit www.northtec.ac.nz
