Printers And Ipads Donated to Backblocks Schools
Canon and the Warehouse donate – Variety Trillian Bash delivers

Variety – The Children’s Charity focuses on giving Kiwi kids a hand-up, and what better way to do that than to ensure
Kiwi kids in rural areas can match education standards with their city-bred peers.
That means keeping up with the equipment race, and Canon and the Warehouse have come to the party that travels with the
Variety Trillian Bash classic car rally, which raises funds and delivers grants to kids round New Zealand.
“Canon has donated over 100 of its wireless inkjet printers, and the Warehouse contributed 75 netbooks or iPads,” says
Variety chief executive Lorraine Taylor.
“Some will be used in combination as part of the Variety Laptops for Learning programme in conjunction with the
Warehouse, and all of them will be appreciated by the rural schools through which the Bash passes. Funds are often
spread thinly at country schools, and it’s generosity like this that helps us to help the kids who need that little
extra help.”
Come March 15 the hard-working volunteers on the Variety Trillian Bash will load the equipment into their Ford Transits
and take them on a winding route south through Waitomo to Piopio, across to Rotorua, then down through the East Cape
hinterland via Waikaremoana, round the Cape and up to Tauranga, with the quirky teams delivering the equipment to
schools along the way.
