Top Scholar hat trick by talented ACG Senior College student

Top Scholar hat trick just the start of the results for talented ACG Senior College student

Auckland, 27 January 2014 - The last 24 hours have been incredibly exciting for ACG Senior College student Wei Wu who has received his Cambridge International Examination results. This year he received all A*’s, the highest grade for three A level subject and two AS level subjects.

Last year, Wei Wu also sat three A level subjects, of which he also gained A*s for. To put it in perspective most students leave ACG Senior College with three or four A levels. To leave with six is a remarkable feat. Wei Wu has been the Top Scholar of his year for the past three years. No student has achieved this hat trick in ACG Senior College’s history.

Wei Wu’s academic path has led him to interview at Cambridge University, Monash and he has also been offered scholarships to Auckland University and Otago University. He is choosing between engineering and medicine.

Wei Wu hasn’t spent all his time studying though. He’s is also a gifted pianist and was heavily involved in putting together the multi cultural concert at ACG Senior College this year. He led the choir and was also chosen to be the speaker at the leavers’ dinner. Speaking without notes, he shared his feelings about the school, deeply moving many of his fellow leavers.

“Wei Wu is a very gracious and softly spoken person. He’s very modest and works incredibly hard at whatever he does. I believe he has hidden depths and will realise his strengths in the future even though they look abundant now,” says Kathy Parker, ACG Senior College Principal.
