New round of applications underway for Partnership Schools
to open in 2015
The Partnership Schools/Kura Hourua Authorisation Board announced today that a second round of applications for schools to open by Term One of 2015 is now underway. Tender documents have been released on the Government’s Electronic Tender Service (GETS), with applications closing on 11 March 2014.
Partnership Schools Authorisation Board Chair Catherine Isaac said the Board anticipated a high level of interest from potential sponsors and would be poviding
briefings in January to assist those interested in putting forward proposals.
“Since the first round closed, there have been many expressions of interest from organisations wishing to establish schools that can help lift the eucational achievement of disadvantaged students, including Māori, Pasifika, and special needs students, as well as those from lower socio-economic backgrounds “To assist applicants in understanding the criteria, and the high quality of educational offering, organisational capability and community engagement required, the Board will be providing more information, briefings and support for those wishing to put forward proposals. There will also be a more streamlined application process.
“We want to ensure that the evaluation process and contract negotiations are completed in good time, so that successful sponsors have enough time to enable their new schools to open in 2015, said Ms Isaac.
Information about the briefing sessions, to be held in Auckland and Wellington in the week beginning 27 January 2014, will be available in early January on GETS and on the Ministry’s website (www.minedu.govt.nz).
