Yoobee School of Design moves to UC’s Dovedale Ave Campus
Yoobee School of Design’s Christchurch campus is moving to Ōtākaro at the University of Canterbury’s Dovedale Ave Campus. Renovations are currently underway and the campus will be open from 6 January 2014.
Yoobee lost its central city campus in the 2011 earthquake and has since been located at a temporary campus in Mairehau. Campus Manager Marcie Evans says, “We are all very excited about the move. Students will be part of the UC campus environment and the whole Christchurch student experience”. Student accommodation at Ilam Village will be available to Yoobee students as well as access to local services in the area. The Christchurch Orbiter bus system will connect students to the Dovedale campus and supermarkets, bars and shops will all be within walking distance.
“The Ōtākaro building, is big bright and spacious, with large computer labs, a green screen room and sound both. The campus is set in beautiful grounds. It has excellent parking and has an on site café”, says CEO, Ruth Cooper. This move gives us plenty of space to grow, and we look forward to a positive business relationship with the University of Canterbury”.
The open day for the new campus will be held on Wednesday the 22nd of January from 11am to 4pm. Information will be available about full time study for 2014, including our new Diploma in Game Design. Yoobee will also be offering short courses during the week, evenings and weekends from the new campus.
There is currently a conditional agreement for the purchase of Yoobee School of Design between ACG and Renaissance Corporation.
ACG is a leading independent education provider with approximately 5,000 students currently attending its ten schools. ACG delivers pre school, primary, secondary, English language and foundation studies for the University of Auckland and AUT University. ACG also owns private international schools in Vietnam and Indonesia.
