SBS Bank Rural is pleased to announce, Central Otago horticulture students; James Huffadine and Hannah Meehan, have been named the recipients of its horticulture scholarship.
The scholarship forms part of three-year collaboration between SBS Bank Rural and Otago Polytechnic’s Central Otago Horticulture campus and each student will receive $500.
SBS Bank Rural Senior Agribusiness Manager Anne Ashby-Neilson said the scholarship fitted perfectly with the principles of the business.
“At SBS Bank Rural we’re passionate about helping support the students for today, as they will become the industry leaders of tomorrow. Both Hannah and James have demonstrated the determination and commitment required to succeed and I am confident they will go far within the horticulture industry.”
Mr Huffadine said winning the scholarship had been a great reward after a busy year.
“It’s been a great incentive to keep studying and it’s a real privilege to have been chosen as one of the successful recipients. I’m going to continue to study towards a Diploma of Horticulture, via distance learning, and the scholarship will be put towards some of the course fees. I’m aiming to complete the Diploma debt free and the SBS Bank Rural scholarship will hopefully allow me to achieve this.”
