Graduation caps off Graphic Design studies

Thirty eight Computer Graphic Design students will celebrate their graduation from the Whanganui School of Design on Friday.

The ceremony will have an international flavour as more than half of the graduands come from as far afield as India, Malaysia, China, Korea and Tonga.

Of the total eligible to graduate, 20 students have successfully completed the Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design, three the Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design (Honours) and four the Graduate Diploma in Animation.
Three students will graduate with a Master of Computer Graphic Design and eight with the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Graphic Design (Honours).

The students use a range of media from print-based design, typography, photography and illustration to video, animation, interactive media and website design.

The degrees are jointly conferred by the Whanganui School of Design and the University of Waikato.

The guest speaker at the graduation ceremony is Dr Eric Dorfman, Director of Whanganui Regional Museum. The Chair of UCOL’s Council Trevor Goodwin will also address the graduands.

The Graduation ceremony will commence at 12.00pm in the Atrium at the Matapihi ki te Ao campus on Rutland Street.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Graduates and their families and friends will be invited to join the Official Procession through town to Majestic Square where the Whanganui UCOL Certificate in Contemporary Music students will perform.
