Te Wānanga o Aotearoa honoured by Workplace Wellness Award

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Te Taiurungi (chief executive) Jim Mather said he was honoured on behalf of the institution to be awarded joint winner at New Zealand Workplace Wellness Awards.

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and Sanitarium were the joint winners of thebusiness and organisations with more than 300 employees’ category at the award ceremony presented at the 'Create a healthy workplace on a budget' forum at Te Papa, Wellington last night. (November 19).

Judges said the Te Wānanga o Aotearoa programme showed creativity, high levels of engagement and a holistic approach to workplace wellbeing including multilingual wellness information.

Mr Mather said it was a privilege to be acknowledged among such an impressive range of entrants, and to be involved in a process that put the tertiary education provider’s more than 1300 as the focus.

“Our staff are the heart of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, and it is crucial to protect and nurture the heart. I acknowledge all members of our team who have helped achieve this award, and I acknowledge all of those who took part in the awards.”

The awards were presented by ACC Minister Judith Collins and Spotless NZ National Manager - Safety, Health and Environment Eta Lilac.

Run by the Heart Foundation and the Health and Productivity Institute of NZ (HAPINZ), the awards aim to acknowledge and recognise excellence in workplace health and wellness programmes by corporations, companies and organisations.
