WelTec Construction Management Students Take out Industry Top Awards
18 November 2013
Two Wellington Institute of Technology Construction Management students have taken out the Central Region top prizes for
the New Zealand Institute of Building this year. Richard Kikta, a 2013 graduate of the National Diploma in Construction
Management won the top performing student on a Diploma level course and the overall Supreme Student Award. Daniel Boyle
won the top performing first year Diploma student at an event hosted at WelTec’s award winning hospitality campus at 54
Cuba Street, Wellington.
Malcolm Fleming, NZIOB National Councillor and Central Chapter President commented, “What sets the NZIOB Student Awards
apart is that the criterion for nomination for these awards is not academic performance alone; the students have been
nominated according to any criteria which appraises exceptional students. What that criteria consists of, is left entirely to the nominating institution, and this makes these awards very
special.”
“Richard and Daniel have done well with their accomplishments and have been recognised by the industry they will be
working in. WelTec students have a strong reputation in winning these awards having won three of the top five awards
last year and being award winners in previous years,” says Sean Irion.
