Top sports qualification to be delivered at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic
Bay of Plenty Polytechnic is pleased to announce that from 2014 they will be delivering the full AUT three-year Bachelor of Sport & Recreation in Tauranga.
Sport and wellness for all communities plays an important role at the Polytechnic and this new announcement further cements their commitment to sport and wellness in the Bay.
Peter Sommers, Group Leader Sport & Recreation, says the offering of the full degree is an exciting move for the Polytechnic.
“We’ve worked closely with local industry for a large number of years to ensure that we offer the best available sport and fitness programmes,” says Peter. “It was a natural progression to move to a full three-year degree covering the most up-to-date research and practice.
“The AUT Sport & Recreation degree is a highly respected and regarded qualification. We chose it particularly for its strong reputation both here in New Zealand and internationally.”
With a populace facing ever increasing health risks associated with obesity, having sport and recreation professionals on hand to deliver a range of quality services has never been more important.
The programme covers courses in human anatomy and physiology, nutrition, coaching, athletic conditioning and loads more. Career options are diverse - from athlete or sports trainer to PE teacher, fitness instructors, right through to event or facility management and sports coaching.
The programme will commence in March 2014.
