Opening of WE ARE Exhibition
11 Church St
Wellington
Friday 8 November 2013 marks the career start for 30 graduands of the Bachelor of Creative Technologies Degree from the Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec). To celebrate their first burst of success and to prepare for public comment, the students are holding an exhibition at 11 Church Street, Wellington.
This year’s creative technologies students will wow Wellington with a free exhibition showcasing their work. The exhibition, called ‘WE ARE’, will feature a number of different mediums, from photographs to short films to interactive websites from students of WelTec’s Bachelor of Creative Technologies.
“Students chose ‘WE ARE’ because it is a powerful, open-ended statement about their individual and collective identities,” says WelTec's Teriu Lemon, Head of School of Creative Industries. “The students are able to use a wide range of tools and media as they work collaboratively in the development of their projects.”
Student Cameron Bowie will showcase his short film (pictured below), which he says will immerse the audience into the mind of the protagonist. “By experiencing the fear, terror, tension and emotion felt from his point of view, the viewer is thrown into the shoes of the protagonist, witnessing his shadowing nightmares and his uncomfortable reality.”
‘WE ARE’ runs from 9-15 November at WelTec’s Church Street campus and is free to the public. The exhibition is open from 11am-4pm weekends and 10am -5pm weekdays.
