Documentary Edge Director to Lead the School of Performing and Screen Arts At Unitec
The Documentary New Zealand Trust is proud to announce the appointment of its founding Director Alex Lee to Head of Performing and Screen Arts (PASA) at UNITEC. Mr. Lee will take over the position commencing 1 November (today).
UNITEC is the largest institute of technology in Auckland and offers degree programs in arts, business, and technical subjects at the bachelors, masters and doctoral level. Mr. Lee will remain a Director of the Documentary New Zealand Trust and continue his involvement with the Trust’s activities which includes the annual Documentary Edge Festival, Screen Edge Forum, DOC Lab and ongoing advocacy.
The Documentary New Zealand Trust is especially excited about the opportunity of working with Mr. Lee to extend its professional development programmes and support of tertiary and industry education.

Mr. Lee has previously been a law lecturer at City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University, Auckland University of Technology, Auckland University and the previous Director of the Auckland Branch of The Institute of Professional Legal Studies.
Mr. Lee has directed for stage and film. He is currently Deputy Chair of Film Auckland Inc.and involved with various performing arts organisations. He is also the Producer of the documentary film “Hip Hoperation” in post production (co-produced with Paula Jones) due for theatrical release in the 2nd quarter of 2014.
“I remain committed to continuing to work as a Director of Documentary New Zealand Trust and supporting the screen industry. I am very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that will come in my new role as Head of PASA” says Alex Lee.
