Exceptional Performing Arts Achievements For Rangi Students

Three Rangi Ruru students have secured sought after positions in the performing arts sector. All three played lead roles
in the school’s co-production of Romeo and Juliet, with Christ’s College in June this year:
Timmie Cameron (Lady Capulet) has been accepted into The Actors' Programmehttp://www.theactorsprogram.co.nz/ despite being only 18 years old (the required minimum age is 20). Timmie has chosen to take a gap year working at a
performing arts school in the UK before taking her place in The Actors Programme in 2015.
Georgia Nash (Juliet) has been signed by NZ's largest and most prestigious talent agency, Johnson & Lairdhttp://johnsonlaird.com/ - an achievement usually reserved for established actors or the very best NZ Drama School graduates.
Sophie Petersen (Nurse) has been accepted into The National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts – NASDAhttp://www.nasda.co.nz/ for their three-year Bachelor of Performing Arts programme.
Rangi Ruru’s Director of Theatre Arts, Robert Gilbert says 2013 has been hugely successful for the school’s performing
artists with the most recent achievement winning the coveted Trans-Tasman Trophy at the Norfolk Island Theatre Festival
last month, and the Rangi Ruru Elite Dance Company being named regional champions at the Showcase Dance Championships
held at Villa Maria College last week.
“It’s a testament not only to the school but also to the girls and their families,” he says. “The focus, drive, talent
and ambition is supported by all of us and we are very proud of all of our girls,” he says. Gilbert was named Best
Director at the Norfolk Island Theatre Festival.
