Victoria appoints new Head of School of Government
Victoria University of Wellington is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Brad Jackson as Head of the School
of Government.
Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Victoria Business School, Professor Bob Buckle, says he is delighted that Professor
Jackson will be returning to Victoria. Professor Jackson was previously employed at Victoria from 1999 to 2006, holding
a number of roles, including Director of the Centre for the Study of Leadership and Head of the School of Management.

in an academic and a practical capacity, including extensive engagement with the public and private sectors. He has much
to contribute to the School of Government and will make an excellent leader,” says Professor Buckle.
Professor Jackson has been the Fletcher Building Education Trust Chair in Leadership and Co-Director of the New Zealand
Leadership Institute at The University of Auckland since 2006.
He has published seven books on management and leadership, and is co-editor of the journal Leadership. He is Vice-Chair
of the International Leadership Association, as well as a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management
and The Leadership Trust.
Professor Jackson says he is looking forward to taking up his new role.
“I am delighted to return to Victoria, which was responsible for bringing my family to New Zealand from Canada in 1999,
and am looking forward to renewing many valued professional acquaintances,” he says.
“The School of Government is unique amongst New Zealand universities in its mission to serve the public interest through
the combined efforts of its pioneering research, its impactful teaching and its role in bringing together leaders from
across the sectors who are intent on improving the well-being of all New Zealanders.”
Professor Jackson will take up the position on 1 February 2014.
