Expo offers employment connections
Industry experts from across the health, business, hospitality, creative, ICT, outdoor education, engineering and trades sectors will be targeting prospective employees at CPIT’s Industry Expo and Open Day this Thursday from 10am to 3pm.
Over 35 companies will be on hand at CPIT’s Madras Street Campus and Trades Innovation Institute to network with the next generation of industry leaders.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to come and learn what employers are really looking for, the qualifications needed for particular careers and the job opportunities available to graduates,” Bree Underhill, Student Liaison Manager says.
Alongside industry experts, CPIT’s subject tutors and current students will be available to talk through study options. A series of information sessions will be held throughout the day for those interested in finding out specifics on the programmes they are interested in.
“Our Open Days are the perfect opportunity for people to find out all the details that make our CPIT programmes unique. They’re also a great place to get one-on-one time with tutors and current students and discover what it’s really like to be a CPIT student,” Underhill says.
For people who are unsure about their career path, CPIT’s Career Centre will be open at the Madras Street Campus, offering guidance and advice on getting into study. StudyLink will be available at the Madras Street Campus as well, to help students with finance queries.
A New Zealand Sign Language interpreter will be available on the day from 12noon - 2pm at the Madras Street Campus to sign with prospective students and help them find out the information they need.
What’s more - there’s also the chance to explore CPIT’s Madras Street Campus and Trades Innovation Institute with full tours, including the option to shuttle between campuses and look at CPIT’s Ōtautahi House accommodation.
