Passive Learning Is Over! NCEA Eagle Lands in Wanaka
This year’s NCEA Examinations are fast approaching and students are nervously preparing to be assessed against the
national curriculum. A new approach to NCEA is emerging, led by education and learning development expert Rakesh Pandey
of Dunedin.
Rakesh Pandey has been tutoring for over thirty years and has taught thousands of students winning strategies to not
only achieve better results in NCEA but motivate themselves to take control of their own learning and prepare for the
increasingly competitive job market.
His ground breaking software NCEA Eagle combines the best techniques from around the world and adds a uniquely kiwi flavour, explains Rakesh. NCEA Eagle
addresses the core problems with NCEA preparation; procrastination, poor study planning, lack of resources and no single
hub to collate and store information.
“Students need to look at a completely different approach to achieving NCEA. The days of passive learning by summarising
and practicing old exam questions no longer works” says Rakesh. He points to rapidly increasing amounts of information
and learning available through the internet as the number one catalyst for change in the education sector.
After a successful launch in 2012, NCEA Eagle drew national attention including appearances on One News, The NZ Herald
and Close Up with praise drawn from education experts and teachers alike. NCEA Eagle fosters collaboration and knowledge
sharing rather than competitiveness and is the only program of its kind available in New Zealand.
Now, Rakesh brings his innovative message to Wanaka where he is delivering a series of workshops for students at Mt.
Aspiring College. “Students will literally be asked to lie on the floor, relax and experience the feelings of enjoyment
preparing and sitting NCEA exams. This amongst other exercises will transform their entire attitude towards the dreaded
end of year exams” says Rakesh.
