UCOL joinery students nail top apprentice awards

Two UCOL-associated Joinery apprentices nailed top awards at the Master Joiner Conference recently.

Jonny Browne from HR Jones in Feilding won the Central Regional award for his special fitment entry, a computer module. He has won the Top Apprentice awards in his ‘time’ category for the past three years.

Lower Hutt based William Pepper won the Most Promising Apprentice.

Both Jonny and William completed their apprentice Block courses with UCOL in March.

UCOL Joinery Lecturers Craig Fleet and Bruce Birrell are proud of their students’ success at the prestigious annual awards. “We are stoked,” says Bruce.

UCOL Head of School for the Built Environment Danny Reilly says he is pleased UCOL can support the Joinery ITO by delivering block courses. “There’s a big opportunity to see more New Zealanders trained in these types of vocational careers that will set them up well for the future.”
