Counsellor and Social Service Outcomes Researcher applauds critique of NZ sex education report
“The release of the Family First R18: Sexuality Education in New Zealand – A Critical Review” report is an overdue and
damning critique of the ideological and dangerous nonsense that passes for sex education in New Zealand, and highlights
the very real dangers to young people being illegitimately indoctrinated, as opposed to being safely educated about the
real risks of premature sexual activity” says Steve Taylor, Director of 24-7 Ltd, a double-degree qualified Youth
Counsellor and Social Service Outcomes Researcher.
“Parents and caregivers now have the opportunity to look beyond the glossy brochures of Family Planning, and some of the
media-savvy, hard-porn sex education websites that pretend to educate our children – they have now been called out, and
have been found wanting”.
“The approach of many of these types of sex education organisations to youth groups, schools, and learning organisations
is deceptive, cunning, and inherently dishonest, and is shrouded in altruistic motives, when in reality are simply
attempts to legitimize sociological and sexual deviancy via propaganda and implicit intimidation and name-calling
against anyone who disagrees with them, and pretend that there are no consequences to same – well now, the evidence has
spoken, and the evidence is against such sex education organisations” says Mr Taylor.
“I am now hopeful that the “brittle-back” Ministers and politicians who have funded such ideological and dangerous
information can summon a little more courage and wisdom than has been present in the past on this issue, start looking
at the actual evidence and outcomes for these programmes, and axe those that either don’t work, and those that actually
harm our young people, as opposed to helping them” said Mr Taylor.
