Wintec teaches leading e-portfolio provider Educa to early childcare education students
Wellington, NZ, May 27, 2013
The Wintec Graduate Diploma of Information Technology in Education (GDITE) has this semester used Educa to better
demonstrate eportfolio use in the early childhood sector.
The inclusion of Educa in the programme, which is specific to early childhood teaching, was a natural move for the module tutor, as a large
proportion of students currently enrolled are early childcare trainee teachers.
Educa is the fastest growing (500%) supplier of e-portfolio for early childcare centers in New Zealand, as well as being
the only provider exporting overseas. Educa founder, Nathan Li, believes that using Educa as a learning tool for the
Wintec diploma students is consistent with the course’s focus on technology and pedagogy in education, as well as more
suitable for organising e-portfolios for younger children.
“I believe that Educa is the right system for GDITE because we provide the most advanced and widely used e-portfolio
system in early childhood centres. Educa is also the first and only e-portfolio tool with smart phone apps!” said Nathan
Li.
Course tutor, Heath Sawyer is pleased that his students can experience an e-portfolio like Educa so they can transfer
this knowledge into the centres they practice in.
“Educa is a great place to reflect on learning experiences the child has had, it also links to Te Whariki which gives
more meaning to the e-portfolio. I believe with this site, parents will gain more understanding of the learning that is
happening with their children.”
