Waiariki And Students’ Association Sign Two-Year Contract
Waiariki Institute of Technology and its student organisation Waiariki Institute of Technology Students’ Association
(WITSA) have signed a new two-year service agreement.
The students’ association represents student interests, provides advocacy and support while they also add to the overall
social experience of students.
WITSA president Tony Te Huia said much work had gone into enhancing the relationship between his organisation and the
tertiary institute and that would now further benefit students.
“We have the same common goal in that we’re both here for the student. It is reassuring for us that Waiariki Institute
of Technology wants to help the student association,” Mr Te Huia said.
“With their financial backing we can now do a lot more for the students and it provides us with stability.”
Waiariki chief executive Professor Margaret Noble said the institute fully supported the work of an active and engaging
students’ association.
“We have had a great start to the year with WITSA and we are looking forward to an ongoing partnership for the benefit
of our students,” Professor Noble said.
“A positive and active student association provides an important social dimension to students’ experience as well as
having an impact on our campus life.”
The two-year service agreement commits WITSA to providing student representative and advocacy services. The commitment
ensures an effective student voice, student access to events and clubs to enhance campus life, leadership opportunities,
and targeted services such as a buddy system for international students.
