Otago Polytechnic students to be awarded Westpac Scholarships
Two Otago Polytechnic Business students will be presented with Westpac Scholarships to the value of $2500 each this Wednesday 8 May at the Poho Room on the Dunedin Campus.
The Scholarships, to be awarded to third-year Bachelor of Applied Management students Nathalie Lacaze – Campbell and Jack Boxall, will contribute towards their travel expenses, as both plan to complete a one semester programme exchange in Germany through the Polytechnic.
“We are thrilled to present the Westpac Scholarship to two well-deserving students,” says the Head of the School of Applied Business, Kay Lion. “We envisage the Scholarship will be used to pay for their airfare and possibly towards some of their living expenses while in Germany.
“Exchange opportunities provide our students with some distinct educational advantages including exposure to a different culture and the chance to work in an overseas business environment, so this is a very exciting opportunity for Nathalie and Jack.”
This is the first year Westpac Scholarships have been presented to Business students and Otago Polytechnic Business Relationship Advisor, Bevan Rickerby, hopes this will become an annual agreement.
“This is the beginning of a very positive relationship,” says Mr Rickerby. “We are very thankful for Westpac’s support and looking forward to working with them now, and into the future.”
According to Mrs Lion, applications - open to third-year Bachelor of Applied Management students -were of a high calibre. “We had some very impressive applications from our cohort of third-years, which is an encouraging start as we hope this will be an opportunity presented to our students every year.”
Phillip Moore will be presenting the Scholarship on behalf of Westpac. All media are welcome to attend the presentation.
