Request for applications for Partnership Schools

Media release

Request for applications released by Ministry of Education

6 March 2013

A request for applications (RFA) from potential sponsors for Partnership Schools | Kura Hourua and a draft agreement for sponsors have been released today by the Ministry of Education.

Once the RFA process closes the Authorisation Board will review all applications and provide advice to the Minister of Education on which applications should be considered for contract negotiations.

No final decisions will be made, or contracts with potential sponsors entered into, until the Education Amendment Bill 2012 is passed.

Subject to the legislation passing, contracts are expected to be in place by the middle of this year so successful sponsors have enough time to prepare their schools to open in 2014.

Once the schools are established, the Authorisation Board will oversee the regular review of each school’s progress against agreed performance targets.

The RFA is available through the Government’s Electronic Tender Service (GETS): www.gets.govt.nz with applications closing on 16 April.
