The decision to review consultation processes in the wake of controversial school mergers and closures has been welcomed by New Zealand's school principals.
'We are pleased that the Ombudsman will be investigating the way in which the Ministry consults with the education sector and school communities on issues that have a direct affect on them,' said Phil Harding, President of the New Zealand Principals' Federation (NZPF).
'NZPF looks forward to contributing to the Ombudsman's review,' said Harding. 'We believe that open and fair consultation processes are critical if we want to succeed in resolving education issues
