Outstanding results for UCOL students in City and Guild exams
Twenty two UCOL Catering students have added to their employability with qualifications from London City and Guilds.
The students have just completed UCOL’s Certificates in Professional Cookery Levels 3 and 4 and were encouraged to also go for the City and Guilds qualifications which are recognised internationally.
Fourteen Level 4 students have been awarded the City and Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation, eight of them passing with Distinction. A further six students achieved the Diploma in Patisserie, five with Distinction. One Level 3 student passed the Certificate in Food Preparation with Distinction, while another achieved the Certificate in Food and Beverage with Merit.
Julie Poole, head of UCOL’s School of Hospitality & Continuing Education, says they are outstanding results achieved by a group of skilled and talented students.
“It’s good to measure achievements by students who’ve completed our highest Professional Cookery qualification against the standards required by City and Guilds. The excellent results for 2012 reflect well on our students and the quality of their lecturers.”
Students on UCOL’s Professional Cookery programmes gain valuable experience putting theory into practice, preparing food for paying customers at UCOL’s training restaurant, Ambitions, for café lunch, formal dining and special functions.
