Ministry releases daily Novopay updates
The Ministry of Education has today released data to ensure school payroll administrators, principals and boards have easy access to transparent progress reports from the Novopay processing centre.
Group Manager, Rebecca Elvy, says there has been a significant improvement in the past week clearing a backlog of issues from earlier pay cycles.
From today, daily updates will be loaded onto www.novopay.govt.nz. Principals and payroll administrators will be able to track how the call centre is performing, processing volumes, progress dealing with issues and figures relating to what happened in each pay-cycle.
“We’ve gone from a priority backlog of almost 8,000 a month ago to just over 600. I expect that remaining number to be cleared within the next couple of days.
“When that backlog is cleared, the processing centre will begin work on salary assessments and overpayments.”
Ms Elvy says the company behind the payroll system, Talent2, has provided additional resources that the Ministry demanded and understands performance improvements must be maintained.
“We are continuing to work with them to deal with issues as quickly as we can, and are absolutely committed to having a payroll system that gets it right for every staff member in every school.”
“We know there has been frustration for some school staff and we have shared their disappointment.
“This additional information, which will be updated daily, will help keep them better informed as we work towards a fully effective and efficient online payroll system that is going to deliver real long term gains.”
