Wintec’s Training Restaurant Launches First Cookbook
Wintec’s student training restaurant Windows launches its first cookbook in Hamilton next week.
The cookbook - A Taste of Windows - is filled with a collection of the most sought-after recipes developed by Wintec tutors and produced and served by
Wintec hospitality students.
Wintec hospitality tutor, Barry Finch said: “We’re excited to be launching our first cookbook. A Taste of Windows is a way of showcasing the skills of our talented tutors and student stars of the future. It also responds to the
feedback from our loyal customers who want to know the recipes behind our meals.”
“Our training restaurant is a well-known institution in the region. It is a modern facility where we teach the latest
food trends and industry techniques to our students, as well as giving them hands-on experience cooking and presenting
to the Waikato public.”
Mr Finch says it is hoped a Windows cookbook will be produced on an annual basis. The cookbook is $15 and with every one sold $6 goes to the charity Child
Matters to help prevent harm to children in New Zealand.
There are recipes for every occasion, as well as dishes from this year’s popular themed banquets - An Arabic Journey
through the Ages, A Chocolate Degustation, A Taste of Malt and A South African Culinary Safari. Windows hosted the banquets which saw around 400 members of the public through its doors.
A Taste of Windows is available to purchase at Windows Restaurant located at the Rotokauri campus on Avalon Drive; through Wintec’s Centre

Windows is also the venue for the region’s largest cooking competition, the Waikato Culinary Fare. It is open to the public for

The cookbook launch will take place between 11am-12pm on Monday 12 November at Windows, Wintec Rotokauri Campus, Avalon
Drive, Hamilton. It will be attended by Wintec staff and students, loyal customers and industry professionals. Copies of
the cookbooks will be available for purchase at the launch.
