Fashion and Fun at the Show
Kāpiti campus came alive with fashion, beauty and hair during a fashion show put on by Whitireia beauty and hair
students and their tutors.
Around 70 guests were treated to a wonderful night of entertainment and fashion which was kindly supplied by local
Kāpiti fashion houses. A range of clothing and accessories were showcased along with the artistic ability of beauty and
hair students.
Students worked on the models creating looks to compliment the garments they wore; cutting edge hair styles and make-up
gave style to the models and complimented the overall effect on the catwalk over the course of the evening.
This event has been held annually over the last few years with the proceeds going towards student’s City & Guilds examination fees. It’s a great community event said Cathie Johnson, Beauty and Hairdressing tutor at Whitireia.
“It’s nice to have the support of the community leading up to the event and on the night, in a number of different ways”
she said.
The beauty and hairdressing programme at Whitireia is a one year, full-time programme run from the Porirua and Kāpiti
campuses. It teaches students about make-up, cosmetics, beauty products and hairdressing. Graduates from this programme
can enter the beauty industry, gain an apprenticeship or go onto further study.
