Natcoll rebrands as “YOOBEE School of Design”

Natcoll Design Technology has changed its name to YOOBEE School of Design to align with its sister business units under the YOOBEE brand owned by Renaissance Corporation Ltd (RNS NZSX). To celebrate its new name, YOOBEE School of Design is running a nationwide ‘Create a Toy Character’ competition until 21 October.

Since 1997 Natcoll has built an enviable international reputation as a leading provider of specialist creative digital design training courses. Every year, with campuses in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, the college enables hundreds of students from around the world to achieve NZQA-approved and vocationally-based diploma courses in multimedia, computer graphic design, web development, animation and filmmaking.

YOOBEE has also recently been granted accreditation as a registered training organisation in New South Wales, Australia, paving the way for the future opening of its first offshore campus in Sydney.

With a focus on ‘enabling creativity’ Renaissance acquired Natcoll in 2007 to complement its YOOBEE business family. YOOBEE’s mission is to help people explore their creativity and discover their potential by providing them with the tools, training and support they need to get started.

Ruth Cooper, General Manager, Education at YOOBEE School of Design says, “Natcoll has always focused on providing a valuable learning experience for students in a supportive environment with tutors who are passionate about teaching and digital design and that will not change. YOOBEE School of Design students receive the same great education and support as we have always provided, plus access to greater opportunities and support through the YOOBEE community.

“The accreditation in Australia helps us to lay the groundwork for expansion across the Tasman,” continued Ruth. “In its final report confirming the registration, the Australian Skills Quality Authority highlighted YOOBEE School of Design's close links with industry and focus on job outcomes as key to this success.”

The ‘Create a Toy Character’ competition has three sections: school students, YOOBEE students, and an open section for anyone to enter. The creature can be drawn with a pencil, pen, crayons or computer and should be accompanied by a short story about what it does, where it lives and how it amuses itself. Great prizes are up for grabs including iPads, tickets to We Can Create (an alternative art and creative industries showcase) and YOOBEE short courses.
