CPIT hits top spot on national report
CPIT has ranked top among New Zealand institutes of technology for students’ successful completion of courses in 2011 in a Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) report.
CPIT moved from second place in 2010 to top ranking in 2011 with an 85% course completion rate.
CPIT Chief Executive Kay Giles said the results were particularly pleasing given the challenging circumstances in Christchurch. “While we had to concentrate on re-establishing our programmes after the February earthquake, we were also determined to keep our students’ learning outcomes as our top priority. It is testament to our staff and students that we were able to do this during 2011.”
CPIT moved from third place to second for ‘completion of qualifications’, held on to tenth place for ‘student progression to higher level of study’ and improved slightly on ‘students retained in study’. TEC reported on 18 institutes of technology as an evaluation of their Student Achievement Component (SAC) funding.
